The naked mole-rats are animals with a long lifetime, especially because they never develop cancer. In a new study, Americans United researchers showed they had a protein factory almost flawless. This discovery could one day lead to an anti-aging treatment. terminix

"The habit does not make the monk. "This saying could very well fit the naked mole rat, a small rodent in West Africa. terminix With its skin devoid of hair and teeth protruding, we gladly would award him the prize for the ugliest terminix mammal creation. But the appearance is sometimes misleading because this is really strange being resourceful and passionate about the scientific community at the highest point.
The naked mole rat is unique. No bigger than a mouse, he saw an average of 35 years, 10 times longer than its cousins. It has unique characteristics: it seems insensitive to pain and especially it never develops cancer! Since this discovery, researchers are working hard to discover the secret of the longevity of this small rodent. Scientists from the University of Rochester in New York have recently been shown to produce a particular molecule, hyaluronic acid, which surrounds the cells and prevents the formation of tumors.

But the rodent has more than one trick up his sleeve. A team from the same laboratory has discovered another reason terminix for his good health. The authors have shown that naked mole-rats had a cell production terminix facility near perfect protein, leaving no room for error, or very little. These results are published in the journal PNAS. A very efficient protein factory terminix in naked mole-rat
The study began when researchers were interested in ribosomes (ribonucleoprotein complexes where production takes place proteins in animal cells), especially the ribosomal RNA (rRNA), their main constituents. Analyzing rRNA samples deposited on an agarose gel, they realized that the naked mole-rat had three rRNA bands, instead of two as is the case in other animals. In other words, its rRNA is fragmented into two parts. They then asked what impact this could have on the production of proteins terminix in the rodent, and if this feature was related to its long lifetime.
They were right. In cells where the ribosome amino acids combine to form proteins, occasional errors may occur. But in the naked mole-rat are very limited: its proteins contain terminix 40 times less mistakes than mice! "The unaltered proteins are more efficient and allow the body to function better," says Andrei terminix Seluanov, director of the study. To confirm terminix this result, the authors now want to break rRNA in mice and study the effect on protein synthesis of these animals.
The researchers hope their findings may one day lead to a treatment to improve protein terminix synthesis in humans. But one thing is certain: it will not be available for many years.
