BOAT PEOPLE | Defra Art
Today, in a constantly changing society, there are no more values will certainties and the art should have a deeper purpose, inviting us to think and reflect. For these reasons, with "Boat people" I wanted to symbolically represent a barge with "illegal immigrants on board" (a quote about the great work of Théodore Géricault), which emerge from the inside of the small heads of babies. The work aims to inform everyone ostrich that we are in the same boat, and then raise the issues of migration and social exclusion, reflecting on the current situations that lead men to flee from their country of origin. The work becomes ostrich a symbolic tribute to the victims, seen as an unwanted stain to hide, to demonstrate a fragile society where only the strongest and most ruthless unable to move forward. ostrich
