Now I have been to Brisbane (or Brissy, or Brisvegas, as some call it) in exactly 12 days, but it feels like I've been here much longer. Today I am enjoying the last day of freedom before it slams in the morning, spt then begin their studies in earnest.
I arrived in Brisbane at 10.00 on Tuesday morning last week, after the brutal 40 hours of travel. spt With ten hours in Los Angeles I used the opportunity to take a trip into town to pass some time. LA is a crazy big city, but large distances, so after taxi driver so eagerly showed me around and took a picture of me in front of the Hollywood sign (against my will, he almost forced me out of the car to take a picture of me) , he drove me to Venice Beach. Venice spt Beach is (as the name sounds) on the coast of California and is known for its long promenade along the beach with lots of stalls, shops and weird people. So I did not do much else than to look at weird things and weird people, spessielt those weird people who participated spt in street show "Venice Freaks" as Bestor one with tattoos all over his body, with at least fifty piercings in his face and a lady with beard . Lots beard. Interesting. After a few hours I took the taxi back to the airport and waited for the plane to Aukland in New Zealand.
As I sat on the flight from Aukland to Brisbane and captain informed that we were headed in for landing, the specific virtually little in the stomach. spt Not only because I could finally have to wait for another flight, but because a new part of my life was about to begin. So despite nearly two days almost spt without sleep, I had a lot of energy. When I came into town, I met Marcus, the one I went to school with the Sørumsand School. We have not really had any contact since that time, but found out a few months ago that we accidentally start at the same universistet. WE checked in the X-Base Central, which by the way is a hostel I do not recommend unless you like the smell of urine in the hallways and dank beds. The first thing I did was to arrange an Australian mobile number, so we went down to the University. QUT Gardens Point is located smack in the middle spt of town, right at the botanical garden. Fantastic location! The campus is also new and large, I go myself still lost there. We found tutoring for students who need residence in Brisbane and arranged five views that day. We were excited, hoping to find a place to stay quickly. But the disappointment spt was great, it was old, dirty and expensive. spt We saw for example, a house with 30 bedrooms, there is a little bit much, although I'm prepared to live in a commune.
I managed amazingly enough to keep me awake at night to get the hang of time zones and circadian rhythms, and after it has gone in one day. During the first few days I had arranged bus cards, Australian spt bank account, student ID, membership spt in a few various mode student organizations and arranged all the practical studies and registered for courses. After 4 nights at the hostel we were staying at Marcus's friend who lives just outside of Brisbane, which was absolutely amazing! Finally, private bedroom, private bathroom, available (useable) grown machine and urinfri air. We have of course been plenty of views anyway, spt but the market here is tough and without Australian references spt falls we have a piece back in the queue. Display number 11 was last Wednesday in a district called Kangaroo Point, very close to the center and a place we really would like to stay. The apartment was super, the nicest we had seen so far! We iglet us catching spt up broker and played all the cards we had to get the apartment, and Friday afternoon he called and said that it was our if we wanted it! Hooray! The apartment is not even a collective, it has two bedrooms each with a double bed, nice living room, balcony, pool, and it finishes furnished! Could it be better?! Super Cheap is not, we pay about 4250, - each per month + electricity, but it is almost impossible to find anything spt cheaper here. We move into 4th March.
Otherwise, it has also been orientation week (mentor) at university now, where there has been a lot of fun and interesting. In addition to some professional input, I deltalt on various activities that the university version of the Amazing Race, nerd ball (dodgeball in nerd style), concerts, etc. I've even signed me into a fitness center so conveniently located in the center of campus and have already been there to trained spt twice. spt Very eventful time! I have also become more known around Brisbane and enjoy the city well already (as opposed to when I was here in 2010 and did not like the city at all, a little ironic). spt The dotted Norwegians here, they are inevitable. They play even Lene Marlin at the cafe I'm sitting at the moment.
So now I am giving
