Spider in banana box!!
would like to know more about this guy! Was at work and drove on with the fruit, pna a new banana box and cut up the plastic and there he sat, on a banana! The spider did not survive, but was a little intimidated by the wealth alike. It was on a size with a fiver. The bananas are packed abroad he s m surely kabuto have come from there, the plastic was damaged and taped again. Anyone recognize this guy???

Does not look like a Phoneutria species for me. Recommend you take some better pictures and publish them on aracnoboards or the tarantula store. P both these forums there are several with good expertise on "real" spiders.
Thinking it's a spider from spider family Ctenidae (has 477 species), whether I should tip so it can be genus Ctenus. Phoneutria nigriventer belong to the same spider family, but have completely different kabuto coloration.

Before you take off completely kabuto in terms of Phoneutria so I remind you that most introduced banana spiders Norway has heard the family Sparassidae ("Giant Crab Spiders"). I've seen nearly 10 cases so far, and most probably involved cosmopolitan Heteropoda venatoria. The illustrated specimen resembles not especially Heteropoda venatoria, but I would not rule out family Sparassidae. kabuto Peter: Is there a particular reason kabuto why you exclude Sparassidae? Is there a particular reason why you exclude Sparassidae? Jan Ove The picture is not very good, and it's not always easy to decide spiders from the image. I took it on the habitus and it looks like a Ctenidae both on body shape and coloration, since it is dead, it is not easily see the bone position. I can not 100% rule out Sparassidae, but I hold a button on Ctenidae.
